# Make a Logo

Create a logo with Ideogram using a brand-name prompt, transparent background and color instructions. Refine lettering in Studio and export a PNG.

Ideogram can generate a logo image from a description of your brand name, icon, lettering and colors. This workflow covers a transparent background, readable text and a PNG download. Review spelling and visual details before using the result on a website, online shop, t-shirt or social profile.

## Write the prompt

Name the brand in quotation marks, then say what the logo should look like:

> A flat vector logo for a coffee shop called "Northwind Coffee". A simple coffee cup icon above the name in bold rounded sans-serif letters. Deep green and cream. Clean lines, no background details.

* **Put the exact name in quotes.** Keep spelling and capitals as you want them. See [Text in Images](/prompting/text-in-images.md).
* **Describe the style in plain words:** flat, minimal, badge, monogram, hand-lettered, geometric.
* **Name the colors.** Two or three colors keep a logo simple. A [JSON prompt](/prompting/json-prompting.md) can express requested hex colors, but inspect the result rather than assuming an exact color match.
* **Keep it simple.** Logos read best with one icon and one or two lines of text.

## Generate it

1. Click **Image** in the sidebar.
2. Open the **Model** picker and choose **Ideogram 4.0 Transparent**, so the logo has no background. See [Transparent Backgrounds](/create/transparent-backgrounds.md).
3. Set **Aspect ratio** to **1:1** for a square logo.
4. Paste your prompt and click **Generate**. Results appear in **Assets**.

You can also choose **Ideogram 4.5** and set **Advanced settings → Background → Transparent**. If you'd rather design on a background first, remove it afterwards with **Remove BG**. Choose **Ideogram 3.0** when you need its style presets or color palettes. See [Image Settings](/create/image-settings.md).

To use an existing logo or brand image as an input, choose a model that accepts [reference images](/create/reference-images.md), such as Ideogram 4.5. Attach it and describe the intended change. Ideogram 4.0 Transparent is a prompt-only workflow and doesn't accept a reference image.

## Refine it

* **Try another round** with one change at a time, such as a different icon or letter style. See [Refine and Iterate](/prompting/refine-and-iterate.md).
* **Make variations** of a logo you like with the [Remix app](/edit/remix.md).
* **Fix a letter or add a tagline** in [Studio](/edit/studio.md). See the steps below.

### Fix a letter or add a tagline in Studio

1. Open [Studio](/edit/studio.md).
2. Choose **Browse Library** to open your generated logo, or upload a file from your device.
3. Use **AI edit** to make the change.

You can also add a text layer instead. See [Text and Layers](/edit/text-and-layers.md).

### Check the logo before exporting

Check the brand name letter by letter, then inspect the icon and letter spacing at the size where the logo will be used. If the icon works but the wording doesn't, add or edit a text layer in Studio rather than repeatedly changing the entire design.

For variants, keep the brand name and layout instruction fixed and change one element, such as the icon or color direction. This makes the versions easier to compare. Generation is not a guarantee of a unique design or exact typography.

## Download it

1. Open the logo.
2. Click **Download**.
3. Choose **PNG** to keep the transparent background.

A 1K PNG is free on every plan; larger sizes need a paid plan. See [Download](/organize-and-share/download.md).

## Is the downloaded logo an editable vector file?

This workflow exports a raster image. A PNG has pixels and can preserve transparency; it doesn't contain editable vector paths. The words **flat vector logo** in a prompt describe the intended appearance, not the file format. Studio text layers remain editable in Studio, while a downloaded PNG is a flattened image.
