# Switching or Downgrading Plans

You can move between Ideogram plans without cancelling and resubscribing.

## How to switch plans

1. Click your profile picture and select **Manage Subscription**, or open [ideogram.ai/pricing](https://ideogram.ai/pricing). The plans page shows all available plans.
2. Use the **Monthly / Annually** toggle to pick your billing frequency.
3. Click the button on the plan you want — **Upgrade plan**, **Modify plan**, or **Downgrade plan** depending on where it sits relative to your current plan — and confirm.

## When the change takes effect

* **Upgrades apply immediately.** You get the higher plan's benefits right away and are charged the prorated difference for the remainder of your current billing period.
* **Downgrades apply at your next renewal.** You keep your current plan until the end of the period you already paid for; there is no refund or credit for the difference. From the renewal date onward you are billed for the lower plan.

While a downgrade is pending, your billing screen shows the upcoming plan change. You can cancel the pending downgrade any time before it takes effect and stay on your current plan.

## Check the billing frequency before you confirm

Each plan is available with monthly or annual billing, and the checkout shows both. Double-check that you selected the plan **and** the billing frequency you intended — for example, annual Plus and monthly Pro can have similar checkout prices but are very different commitments. Payments are non-refundable once made (see [Refunds](/plans-and-pricing/billing-and-subscriptions/refunds.md)).

## Changes that aren't self-serve

* **Annual to monthly billing** on the same plan can't be changed from the billing screen. Contact <support@ideogram.ai>.
* **Team plans** can't be downgraded to an individual plan (Basic, Plus, or Pro) from the billing screen. Contact <support@ideogram.ai>.

When contacting support, email from the address your Ideogram account is registered under — it lets the team find your subscription right away and gives you the fastest turnaround.
